Next Generation Middleware Technology for Mobile Computing

    Get PDF
Current advances in portable devices, wireless technologies, and distributed systems have created a mobile computing environment that is characterized by a large scale of dynamism. Diversities in network connectivity, platform capability, and resource availability can significantly affect the application performance. Traditional middleware systems are not prepared to offer proper support for addressing the dynamic aspects of mobile systems. Modern distributed applications need a middleware that is capable of adapting to environment changes and that supports the required level of quality of service. This paper represents the experience of several research projects related to next generation middleware systems. We first indicate the major challenges in mobile computing systems and try to identify the main requirements for mobile middleware systems. The different categories of mobile middleware technologies are reviewed and their strength and weakness are analyzed

Since a long time ago, Indonesia known as a country whose rich in natural resources and minerals. But now there are so many problems appear in the oil and gas industry sector, which is quite disturbing Indonesian economic. Import of oil product who continuously increases and cannot be avoided is like proving that the product is becoming one of the staples in Indonesian consumption because of the industrial sector and transportation. The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of dollar exchange rate, oil prices, consumption per capita, and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) simultaneously and partially to the Indonesias fuel net exports. Furthermore, this study also determines which variables have the most dominant influence to Indonesias fuel net exports on 1991-2012. The result shows that dollar exchange rate, oil prices, consumption per capita and GDP simultaneously have significant impact to Indonesias fuel net exports on 1991-2012. Partially, dollar exchange rate and consumption per capita have negative and significant impact to Indonesias fuel net exports on 1991-2012. Meanwhile, GDP partially has not impact to Indonesias fuel net exports on 1991-2012. Oil prices have the most dominant impact to the Indonesias fuel net exports on 1991-2012

Nusa Dua tourism area known as the most visited by tourists. The number of tourists who visit resulted in the majority of the peoples livelihood Nusa Dua turning to the informal sector. Artshop business deployment there is form a group and there are also scattered around the area in Nusa Dua. The benefit of this study was to determine the effect of simultaneously and partially between tourist visits, extensive art shops, and the location of the business employment artshop in Nusa Dua area. In this study using primary data, then analyzed with multiple linear regression method. The results is indicate that tourist visits, extensive art shops and locations artshop significant effect on the business employment artshop in Nusa Dua area, either simultaneously or partially

As the demand for marine ornamental fish is ever increasing, the industry largely relies on collections from natural habitat due to insufficient breeding and seed production technologies. Fishes of the family Pomacentridae are popular in marine aquaria throughout the world. Among these, damsel fishes of the genus Dascyllus has high demand and are mostly collected from the wild. The present study forms the first-ever report on successful breeding and larval development of Cloudy Damsel (Dascyllus carneus Fischer, 1885). Though there are a few reports on breeding of other species of Dascyllus, there has been no report on the complete larval development of any of the species in this genus. This forms the first description of early larval development of a Dascyllus species. Using the copepod Parvocalanus crassirostris as first feed the larval rearing was done. Successful breeding and larval development were achieved from the wild-caught broodstock of D. carneus at Vizhinjam Research Centre of ICAR-CMFRI, India. Brood stock from the wild took 4 months to spawn, laid 6500–10,500 eggs per spawning and hatching rate ranged from 90.6 to 98.81%. Newly hatched larvae were the smallest among all the reported larvae of pomacentrid fishes and measured 1.95 ± 0.14 mm in total length. Yolk reserve was completely absorbed within 72 h of hatching. Preflexion stage is from 4 to 10 dph, flexion stage is from 11 to 12 dph and postflexion period is 13–15 dph. Larvae accepted only copepod naupliar stages as first feed and calanoid copepod P. crassirostris alone was fed until 25 dph. Larvae settled from planktonic stage in 22–23 days and all the larvae metamorphosed into juveniles by 50 dph. The egg development, larval development and larval pigmentation up to 50 dph has been described. The feeding protocols and feed size preference in relation to their age or mouth gape, the gut contents and mouth gape of the larvae caught from a feed trial with surplus copepods of all stages were analysed at regular intervals. Larvae preferred larger stages of copepods in later stages of their development. Finally larval feeding protocols were modified accordingly and better survival was observed. A final feeding regime has been developed and a strategy for the consistent hatchery production of this species was achieved. Different stages of copepod P. crassirostris were used till the settlement of planktonic stage of larvae and Artemia nauplii were used from 25 dph. The larvae were completely weaned to artificial diet from 50 dph

META-HEURISTICS BASED ARF OPTIMIZATION FOR IMAGE RETRIEVAL

ABSTRACT The proposed approach avoids the semantic gap in image retrieval by combining automatic relevance feedback and a modified stochastic algorithm. A visual feature database is constructed from the image database, using combined feature vector. Very few fast-computable features are included in this step. The user selects the query image, and based on that, the system ranks the whole dataset. The nearest images are retrieved and the first automatic relevance feedback is generated. The combined similarity of textual and visual feature space using Latent Semantic Indexing is evaluated and the images are labelled as relevant or irrelevant. The feedback drives a feature re-weighting process and is routed to the particle swarm optimizer. Instead of classical swarm update approach, the swarm is split, for each swarm to perform the search in parallel, thereby increasing the performance of the system. It provides a powerful optimization tool and an effective space exploration mechanism. The proposed approach aims to achieve the following goals without any human interaction -to cluster relevant images using meta-heuristics and to dynamically modify the feature space by feeding automatic relevance feedback
